Istanbul Kültür University has led the “Sustainability Action Plan of the Furniture, Paper, and Forestry Products Exporters’ Associations”, conducted in collaboration with the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) and the Furniture, Paper, and Forestry Products Exporters’ Associations.
The project was designed to support the adaptation of the Turkish furniture and forestry products sectors to the EU Green Deal process and to enhance sustainable production and export capacity across the industry. The project was coordinated and managed on behalf of Istanbul Kültür University by Vice Rector and Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Center (İKÜSÜRKAM), Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil. Prof. Dr. Tiftikçigil oversaw the processes of strategic planning, data analysis, policy development, identification of sustainability indicators, stakeholder coordination, and reporting of the action plan throughout the project.
The Action Plan was structured under eight main thematic areas, including raw material and supply chain management, circularity in production, education and human resources, standardization, certification, digitalization, and post-sales sustainability practices. In addition, survey data collected from 123 companies, search conferences, and focus group discussions were analyzed and integrated into the academic framework of the project.
