4.3.1. Free educational resources accessible to the public

Istanbul Kültür University adopts the principle of equal access to lifelong learning activities within the framework of its Education and Training Policy and Gender Equality Policy. The Education and Training Policy emphasizes that students should be equipped with “human rights awareness, ethical principles, and a sense of responsibility, along with lifelong learning skills,” and accordingly aims to strengthen lifelong learning through distance education programs. In addition, the Gender Equality Policy commits to establishing an inclusive, equitable, and discrimination-free learning environment, ensuring equal participation in all educational, research, and community engagement processes.

In this context, Istanbul Kültür University also supports lifelong learning through its open access policy for digital academic resources. Individuals who are not enrolled or employed at the university can access academic materials via the Digital Library and the Institutional Open Access Archive.

Researchers can access all digital resources through the university’s library panel at https://kutuphane.iku.edu.tr/tr/kampus-disi-erisim, and all academic outputs produced under the university’s open access policy are available at https://openaccess.iku.edu.tr/home .

Through these platforms, more than 7,000 academic publications, approximately 1,500 postgraduate theses, and 2,175 indexed research outputs are publicly accessible online. This extensive digital access network promotes the dissemination of academic knowledge and concretely supports the university’s commitment to lifelong learning.

These policies and practices guarantee equal access to learning opportunities and lifelong learning activities for all individuals, regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability, refugee status, or gender.
